Coach 1941 NYFW S/S20 – Review

INSPIRED BY: The grit of New York City in the 1980’s and the work of the late photographer, Richard Bernstein, who was the cover artist for Interview Magazine for over 20 years and a fixture in the high-society set of the Andy Warhol pop-art era. Staged on the High Line, the show closed with a series of monochromatic looks in candy hues, leaving guests on a visual sugar high.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Kristen Stewart attending a gig at Clockwork Bar in the Lower East Side after a long day of shooting an indie flick uptown.
WEAR IT TO: The VIP opening of the Museum of Modern Art’s $450-million expansion campaign.
FIRST READ: Over the six years Stuart Vevers has held the reigns at Coach, the designer has perfected his knack for delivering vintage-looking separates with street-style appeal. Think leather trenches, jackets and skirts in rich, earthy tones, kitschy knits with playful prints, and Western-inspired denim jackets, which added to the all-American vibe.
BEST LOOK: A green cargo skirt with silver hardware detail, worn with a black tank featuring a pop-art print, and teamed with red flats and a white crossbody clutch.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Bernstein’s works splashed on t-shirts and tanks, statement clutches in boxy shapes, and leather jackets and coats styled over ladylike looks and sheer tops. Footwear was also key, with several models sporting Converse-style sneakers with high-top buckles.
