Custo Barcelona NYFW F/W19 – Review

INSPIRED BY: Designer Custo Dalmau’s hometown of Barcelona, and the nighttime glam associated with the city’s iconic party scene. Titled, “Insta Glam,” Dalmau delivered by serving up 59 dazzling looks – each individually capable of clogging up your social media feed.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Paris Hilton spraying giant streams of foams onto the soaked masses on the wee hours of a Monday morning as part of her summer DJ residency at Ibiza mega-club, Amnesia.
WEAR IT TO: A winter weekend escape to Soho House in Miami, before jetting to the $1,500-a-night COMO Parrot Cay in the Turks & Caicos, housed on a private island, but of course.
FIRST READ: Vampy dresses and zip-up jackets decorated with handmade metallic appliques in animal and geometric shapes added a dose of glam to the club-friendly mix. Meanwhile, sparkly sequins on a puffer coat with a fur-trim hood, and asymmetric sportswear separates detailed with Lurex jacquard and fringing added an athletic vibe to the street-style-inspired lineup.
BEST LOOK: A gold leather varsity-style jacket with a fur hood, styled over a layered cream chiffon top with floral embroidery, crocodile-effect leather pants and strappy heels.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Wrap-around sunglasses that seemed just as at home on the slopes as in the concrete jungle, oversized coats in 70’s swirl pattern fur and rose-gold sequins, and the debut of the brand’s children’s collection, which walked in line with the label’s signature Studio 54 aesthetic.
