Custo Barcelona NYFW S/S19 – Review

INSPIRED BY: The luxe lifestyle of a Euro jetsetter on a three-month vacation in Ibiza. Titled, “After Sun,” designer Custo Dalmau referred to the glitz and glamour of the after-dark club-kid scene as key behind his latest collection, which had enough silver to justify the shades worn in the front row.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Lindsay Lohan hosting a $200-a-head end of summer party at her namesake beach house in Mykonos.
WEAR IT TO: Disembark your 50-foot yacht to attend a Full Moon Party at the Nassau Beach Club in Ibiza, before heading to catch David Guetta at Ushuaia to ring in the season’s close.
FIRST READ: Holographic, daring cocktail frocks with a techno slant – think bodycon dresses with strategic cutouts, Gatsby-inspired fringed minis with tassel detailing, reflective patchwork and beaded embroidery on gowns and jackets, and a sprinkling of billowy sportif pieces fashion from parachute fabric, including a sleeveless zip-up shift with drawstring accents.
BEST LOOK: A strapless mini dress covered in gold, bronze and white sequins and beading, featuring owl motifs, an asymmetrical hemline and styled with stacked booties with bird-like feature detail.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Translucent bomber jackets made from iridescent fabric and finished with a geometric trim, 80’s-style silhouettes, and the five pounds of beads adorning every look.
