Cynthia Rowley S/S 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY:Â Designer Cynthia Rowley’s surfing obsession and the fantastical dream of an endless summer. Think the sort of lifestyle a brand devotee might live if Montauk had a 365-days-a-year sunny Australian climate slapped on it come fall.
POP-CULTURE NOD:Â If dancewear label Bloch were to create a capsule collection for the New York City Ballet class of 2017 about to set off on a summer training camp with the U.S. swim team.
WEAR IT TO: Grab cookies at the Momofuku Milk Bar pop-up after stocking up on your Rowley wardrobe at her adjacent Hampton’s outpost, before a night of dancing and psychic readings at the Girls Night Out fundraiser at Gurney’s Resort.
FIRST READ:Â Floaty party frocks featuring the designer’s signature print, frilly silk maxi dresses and elasticized shorts conveyed a sense of classy femininity, while cropped tops and swimwear with sheer mesh paneling added a sporty vibe to the mix.
BEST LOOK: A mermaid-style skirt with pastel cascading sequinning, paired with a black sweater featuring text print and candy-hued strappy heels.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS:Â Guests circled the outskirts of Rowley’s Morton Street studio, while models swung on swings hanging from the ceiling. As always, Rowley delivered a Instagram-worthy performance that showcased her latest collection in the most innovative presentation of the season.
SPOTTED IN THE FROW:Â Gigi Clementine Powers, Megan Puleri, Bryan Abasolo, Yvonne Force Villareal.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE:Â [In the line] “Do you think she’ll present behind a smokescreen like the feather presentation last September?”
COLOR WHEEL:Â Lemon yellow, dusty pink, cream, black, red, mint, gold, white, champagne, lilac, mustard, peach.
