Delpozo S/S 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: The kitschy poolside glamor of swim champion Esther Williams, Slovakian Photographer Maria Svarbova’s swimming pool series, and the beats of Spanish-born bandleader Xavier Cugat.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Former Australian Olympian Stephanie Rice auditioning for a role in the Broadway musical revival of Alice in Wonderland.
WEAR IT TO: Hustle downstairs at Teddy’s after an A-list pool party at the Hollywood Roosevelt’s fruity Tropicana Bar.
FIRST READ: Flamenco flounces, neon, beaded embellishments and oodles of tulle combined to create an aquatic, summery vibe, while the brand’s signature plays on architectural silhouettes elevated the collection to the prêt-à-couture status it so rightly deserves.
BEST LOOK: A one-shouldered powder blue flounce dress with fish-scale imprints and ruffle detailing and a sorbet lemon strap, worn with raffia sandals and a headband with an oversized bow.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Sculpted pleats and ruffles in a pastel palette made for a saccharine lineup fit for sipping a limoncello on the pebbled shores of Monterosso, while streaks of tangerine on models’ eyelids kept looks playfully youthful.
SPOTTED IN THE FROW: Zendaya, Blake Lively, Chiara Ferragni, Olivia Palermo, Iris Apfel, Caitriona Balfe.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “Do you know where you can buy Delpozo’s hats? I feel like every hat shop in New York has shut down except that one near Bedford Station.”
COLOR WHEEL: Aquamarine, tangerine, pastel pink, orange, cream, white, lemon, red, Kelly green.
BEATS: Live music curated by Roberto Carlos Lange and the band Helado Negro, dressed in white tuxedos.
