Deveaux NYFW F/W19 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Creative Director Tommy Ton and Head Designer Andrea Tsao’s vision of creating modern silhouettes for men and women with a street-style aesthetic in neutral hues.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Tilda Swinton musing over plans for an extension to her £650,000 Highland home in Scotland after cruising the offerings at Sundance with her daughter.
WEAR IT TO: Catch a DJ set while perusing the latest emerging designers at the after-party on the opening night at The Amory Show at The Museum of Modern Art in midtown.
FIRST READ: Draping was key in this slouchy-yet-polished collection, which featured single-breasted long coats, cozy cashmere sweaters with built-in asymmetrical capes, and plaid outerwear with contrasting lining.
BEST LOOK: A slate blazer, worn over a deconstructed waistcoat and fitted top, styled with pin-tucked cropped trousers and unisex leather loafers.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: The ethereal lightness of the lineup was complemented by Henri Scars Struck on the piano, while dancer Stephen Galloway choreographed the presentation, which almost mimicked the sort of air-kissing you see outside the shows on the influencer scene.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “How gorgeous are the cascading baby’s breath flowers – I almost feel like I’m intruding on a wedding.”
COLOR WHEEL: Taupe, gray, slate, black, cream, navy, charcoal, brown, camel.
