Dyne NYFWM S/S19 – Review
INSPIRED BY: The concept of an aspirational nomad meandering through the rugged wilderness in Portland, Oregon, while staying true to the label’s focus on classic tailoring and the use of technical athleisure fabrics to create durable outerwear garb.
POP-CULTURE NOD: The gateway movie to the post-apocalypse, Mad Max: Fury Road. Think the wardrobe of an action character in a virtual reality game set against the backdrop of the Chernobyl disaster.
WEAR IT TO: Stomp along to Dutch DJ Armin van Buuren’s epic seven-hour set amid a smoggy dust storm at Romania’s biggest electronic music festival, Untold.
FIRST READ: Technological streetwear infused with a futuristic edge. Lightweight raincoats and parkas, shirts and soccer shorts featuring a floral-meets-space print, zip-up jackets with functional reflective patches, and trucker caps featuring the brand’s logo combined to create a collection as suited to the track as a night at Output in Brooklyn.
BEST LOOK: A grey trench, worn over a synthetic tee featuring a galactic print and teamed with charcoal shorts, pull-up socks, an oxygen mask and a baseball cap.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Asics sneakers, face paint, logoed hats and jackets, high-tech fabrics and see-now-shop-now app capability that allowed attendees to snap-up any of the wares on offer.
SPOTTED IN THE FROW: Zeke Thomas, London Brown, DJ Mick, DJ Clark Kent.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “I’ve noticed people with their socks pulled-up like this a lot lately. Is that a thing now?”
COLOR WHEEL: Charcoal, orange, aqua, navy, onyx, red, purple, light grey, slate, peach, tan.
