Elie Tahari NYFW F/W19 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Infamous style muses from the 1970’s, designer Elie Tahari cited famous actresses of the era and reigning queens of the Studio 54 scene as key behind his latest collection.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Bianca Jagger looking exquisite in an off-the-shoulder chiffon dress with a 40’s wave hairstyle, making come-hither eyes at a photographer while riding a white horse at a wild Rolling Stones party in 1973.
WEAR IT TO: Meet the in-laws at fine-dining hot spot, Eleven Madison Park, just minutes after closing a $3-million deal with the executives at Sony in the adjacent building.
FIRST READ: Tahari stayed true to his ability to deliver daywear looks that stray into evening territory with effortless ease. Think leopard-print double-breasted jackets worn with velvet trousers, silky jumpsuits with metallic fringing, and jacquard blazers worn with pants in a clashing plaid print.
BEST LOOK: A silk coat featuring a stained glass-style pattern, worn over a silk shirt and styled with navy suede pants.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Christie Brinkley closing the show in an emerald blazer and flares.
SPOTTED IN THE FROW: Laverne Cox, Bella Thorne, Christie Brinkley, Kelly Bensimon, Huma Abedin, Rory Tahari, Cipriana Quann, TK Wonder, Liliana Nova.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “How alike do Christie Brinkley and her daughter Sailor look?! They’re almost twins!”
COLOR WHEEL: Yellow, navy, slate, black, green, emerald, white, gray, brown, silver, purple, maroon, gold.
