Fenty x Puma S/S 2018 – Review

INSPIRED BY: The X Games extreme sporting competition, with a nod to surf culture and the breezy beach lifestyle. Adding to the theatrics was a series of motocross stuntmen that opened the show with a suite of daredevil tricks over mountains of pink sand, staged in the center of the venue.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Cameron Diaz flexing her athletic chops in a motor cross dirt-bike race in the remake of Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. 
WEAR IT TO: Stake your claim as the cool kid during the introductory meet-and-greet the week ahead of the Tough Mudder Half in Las Vegas.
FIRST READ: Leather racing gear, scuba swimsuits, nylon windbreakers, streetwear hoodies and body-con dresses formed part of a mashup of beachy, athletic, racing and cycling looks. Shoes were also key – neon yellow booties, stiletto-thong sandals, translucent slides worn with socks and stacked creepers.
BEST LOOK: A scuba motorcycle jacket worn over a racing-inspired zip-up, worn with over-the-knee oversized riding boots in neon green and black – which seemed equal parts safety-focused, functional and fashion-forward.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Rihanna closing the show by zipping around the venue on a motorcycle in a green monochrome outfit and thigh-high leather boots. The collection focused on branded accents to give sporty looks an extra dose of street cred – think helmet-style safety buckles, chunky zippers, 90’s-style wraparound sunglasses, bucket hats and gym towels.
