The Moschino clubhouse in Soho is the ultimate Jeremy Scott-inspired playground. After opening its first U.S.-based boutique in early 2015, the fashion house then debuted its East-Coast digs over the summer. Located on Wooster between Broome and Spring Streets, the store features high ceilings, plenty of light, and is filled to the brim with eccentric décor in a nod to the designer’s cheeky tongue-in-cheek aesthetic. From a pair of four-foot red stilettos to a life-size giant teddy bear, to pill-box handbags – it’s hard to know where the fun ends and the business of retail begins. Giant bags and hats mimic actual bags and hats available for sale. Never one to do things by halves, Scott had the store outfitted with oversized mannequins and evolving suite of colorful installations. Fans of the label are able to browse Scott’s pop culture-inspired sweaters and kooky ware, hanging from giant coat hangers, while cigarette iPhone cases and aspirin-bottle bucket bags are peppered throughout the 3,703-square-foot style emporium, which has a sartorial fashion-as-art gallery vibe. Be sure to check out the racks towards the back of the store for sale items – the designer is known to slash prices on the clothing, shoes and accessories of outgoing collections by 50 percent at the end of a season.
