Top Insta look: A Coachella-ready cropped black bandeau top with trailing ribbon ties, worn with a white puffy balloon mini skirt, the look given a festival vibe through a cone-style messy bun and mascara-drenched lashes.

Behind the scenes: Electric energy and hype ahead of the New Zealand labels debut fashion week show, with designer Georgia Currie tapped by the fash pack as the “new Ellery”.

Off probation: A sky blue V-neck tailored shirt with elongated sleeves and trailing ties, worn with matching trousers and 90s-inspired Reef black sandals, with a black strappy bandeau top styled over the top, giving the look an Artist-inspired feel.

Good behavior bond: A black top with ruffled sleeves and a flurry of ribbon ties trailing from the wrists, worn with a pair of white shorts with a black belt – the sort of outfit former Lucky editor Eva Chen might throw on before hitting the early-morning round of presentations at New York Fashion Week.
Inspired by: Androgynous suiting and the Y2K tech phenomenon, the collection hovered between clean tailored pieces fit for the next boardroom throwdown and grungy, futuristic pieces such as shimmering bandeau tops, ruched silver shorts and slips worn over long-sleeve tops.

Pop culture nod: Victoria Beckham on a business trip Down Under – linen shorts, open-toe sandals and loose, A-line skirts aptly suited to the warmer climate of Sydney’s CBD, followed by happy hour in Walsh Bay.

Wear it to: Thursday night gallery hopping in Chelsea, where the designer’s clean tailored pieces will allow you to blend in with the art crowd at every opening reception.

Overheard courtside: “Did those girls just steal the goodie bags from the front row?” – in response to the controversial snatching of a spate of monogrammed Mon Purse pouch bags gifted to the VIP members of the front row.

Color wheel: Black and white, peppered with grey tailoring, shimmering bandeau tops and shorts and silver slip dresses and skirts.

Beats: Asylum style haunting electronic lounge tracks to the backdrop of blue and green rotating lasers.

The docket: The narrow runway and kaleidoscope rave-like wave of smoke and lasers had the potential to overshadow the designer’s maiden MBFW show, but the casual and wearable suite of looks justified the designer’s hype as new kid on the fashion block, still riding high after signing with Myer. Easy and breezy, the collection appeared fit for the wardrobe of an FIT fashion student flocking home to her parent’s estate at Martha’s Wineyard for the summer, seeking a grown-up shade of effortless style. Laser precision focus on volume using simple fabrics – shirting with elongated cuffs and trailing strips paid homage to the sort of straight jacket you might wear to visit your crazy uncle Gary Busey at the asylum.
