Greta Constantine NYFW F/W19 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Design duo Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong’s recent trip to Dubai, namely its hedonistic nightlife scene and the well-dressed men and women of the city’s high-society set.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Brand devotee Coco Rocha posing with her three-year old daughter at a photo shoot for the cover of Vogue Paris’ September issue.
WEAR IT TO: Look fabulous walking the yellow brick road at the The Wizard Of Oz–themed takeover of Soho House New York on New Year’s Eve.
FIRST READ: Pickersgill and Wong replaced their trademark daring mini dresses with more demure options that were equally dramatic and eye-catching as their predecessors. Think a silver Tin Man-inspired cocktail gown with bow tie shoulder accents, and sequin dresses and jumpsuits poking through one-shoulder toga-like sashes, a red suit with wide-leg pants, and cozy gray sweats.
BEST LOOK: A silver sequined turtleneck, worn with a full ballgown made of raffia.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: By using the brand’s penchant for glitz and glam in a more covert way, what used to be a collection reserved solely for the extrovert on the dance floor can now capture an entirely new pocket of the market: those looking for day looks that can catch the light for a bit of razzle-dazzle come night.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “It’s always nice to see models with a glass of wine having a good time on the first day of fashion week – especially with it being so miserable outside.”
COLOR WHEEL: Lavender, silver, gold, tan, aqua, blue, red, maroon, rose, gray, black.
