While the vibe at Cipriani Downtown is several octaves below the clubby atmosphere at Lavo and Tao, you’ll still want to bring your designer shades so you can ogle at the mix of uppity socialites dominating the liquid brunch circuit as soon as spring hits. Catering to a more casual crowd than the corporate and celebrity clientele of Cipriani’s Wall Street and uptown locations, the Soho hot spot’s features the same signature grand décor and sports sidewalk seating over the warmer months. Located on West Broadway near Broome Street, the offshoot provides a laid-back alternative to Harry’s at the Sherry Netherland Hotel in Midtown, which is a duplicate of the original bar by the same at the brand’s flagship in Venice. The loftlike space – which opened its doors in 1996 – served as the stomping ground for Hollywood’s elite before the financial crisis hit in 2008. It still holds court as a drawcard for the style set: think Victoria Beckham, Lindsay Lohan, Jennifer Lopez and Samuel L. Jackson.
