TOP INSTA LOOK: A series of automobile inspired print dresses which played out like a kaleidoscope of vibrant popping color against a runway in similar prints – a saturated explosion that went viral on people’s feeds faster than spiking petrol prices.

BEHIND THE SCENES: While a key theme seen throughout the week was a single earring and minimal accessories, House of Cannon took things a step further through styling a single long plait over one shoulder, keeping styling simple with natural hair with a deep side part.

OFF PROBATION: A one shoulder billowy car print dress, ranging all colors of the rainbow and as many U.S. car styles to boot, featuring everything ranging from the iconic New York yellow cab to the stereotypical Nascar red racing car.

GOOD BEHAVIOUR BOND: A sleeveless V-neck floor-length floaty dress with light blue upper and a natural leaf foliage print, worn with grey, neon yellow and blue sneakers.

INSPIRED BY: The unlikely ill-fated doomed Detroit car industry, what could have played out like a bleak peek back through history was instead a celebration of color and a cheerful collection on the final day of fashion week. A series of Dandelion and leafy green prints might have been interpreted as the current resurgence of nature as it takes back the former energy-guzzling car yards of the streets of Detroit, or, taken at face value, the show-stopping patterns were a celebration of color and complimented the designer’s play on proportions and volume.

POP CULTURE-NOD: 2011 Greenest International Celebrity of the Year and Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Program Giselle Bundchen five glasses of sauvignon deep, chewing off fellow cocktail party guests’ ears about her hometown’s Clean Water Project and one of her ‘main passions, the Amazon rainforest. Or at least until she gets schooled by fellow environmental health advocate Meryl Streep.

WEAR IT TO: The next General Motors shareholder meeting, where you plan to question the board on its green energy focus and the green-transport revival regarding electric cars and plug-in hybrids versus its recent record sales and profits numbers sparked by soaring demand for pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles fueled by multi-year lows in gasoline prices.

OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “Are cars still made in Detroit?” – overheard by one guest, showing their millennial age by their limited knowledge of where cars in fact come from.

COLOR WHEEL: Bold, primary yellow, blue, red and green, an array of nature-inspired prints in greens and natural blues and lilac.

THE DOCKET: While the official M.O. for the designer’s offering for resort 17 was the bleak state of play in the once-bankrupt state of Detroit, House of Cannon provided a series of light and cheery blazers, floor-grazing floaty gowns and structured pants and shirts that proved the hypothesis that ‘cautious optimism’ about the shift to clean and natural energy was a positive one (at the very least a reimagined future which allows you to swap the Ford Motor Show for Telsa’s star-studded cocktail party at L.A.’s Soho House – ie. Leave your keys at home).
