INSPIRED BY: The drive to deliver ladylike elegance with a renewed focus on sustainability. Designer Gilles Mendel flexed his draping chops on a series of red carpet-ready dresses, while a series of simpler day looks added a youthful dose to the mix.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Taylor Swift reinventing her good-girl image by hitting the red carpet at the Country Music Awards in a power-pink frock, with a freshly-appointment sparkler on her left ring finger.
WEAR IT TO: Ring in the New Year with the Upper East Side elite at Café Carlyle’s black-tie gala, followed by after-hours cocktails to the jazzy tunes of the Loston Harris Trio at the adjacent Bemelmans bar.
FIRST READ: Mendel delivered a string of his signature mille-feuille tiered gowns in ballerina hues, while strapless frocks with full ball skirts in abstract prints also catered to the eveningwear feted by the brand’s clientele.
BEST LOOK: A nude mini shift dress featuring silver beaded embellishments, worn under a fuzzy fur jacket and thigh-high taupe leather boots.
