Children’s book character French schoolgirl Madeline has been described as charmingly impetuous, irrepressible, mischievous, and precocious, all adjectives of which could be hashtagged to describe the sentiment of Jacquemus’ latest offering for spring 2015.

A mishmash of beach sundry and parasols filled the event space, through which walked smug-looking models mimicking Madeline’s infamous feisty flare.

Inspired by a mix of Paris-in-the-summer and the Hamptons’ beachside, the show delivered a suite of casual, easy-to-wear separates, focusing on asymmetrical pieces with a breathable offering.

The young, French designer played with the female silhouette in a range of pretty dresses, a standout being a retro yellow and white-striped mini dress with a funnel neck, designed to conceal any hickeys racked up at the next bonfire shindig while watching the fireworks next 4th of July.

The string of looks featuring white tops, dresses and trousers gave way to a nautical theme, with items such as blue and white-striped mini dresses, crop tops and skirts with oversized accents ramping up the show’s youthful, carefree vibe

Party dresses in sunflower yellow and white were perfectly PG, while a sexier, edgier option was provided through an asymmetrical crop top and miniskirt featuring a play on proportions.

A definite crowd pleaser was the show’s closing look, which was a blue and white strappy sundress complete with an oversized tacked-on circle in yellow and white.

The shoe-of-the-moment – Adidias Originals – featured throughout and helped improve the show’s street style cred, while the lank hair styling on the models gave the impression that the cheeky ladies had not been home the night before.

In a lineup equipped to take you from stomping about the streets of Paris to clinking glasses on board your yacht on the French Riviera, Jacquemus scored straight As after unveiling Madeline’s school uniform makeover for spring.
