Jeffrey Dodd S/S 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: The vividly abstract works of photographer TJ Tambellini and the wave forms in slot canyon Antelope Canyon in the American Southwest.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Liz Hurley’s off-duty wardrobe while playing the role of secret agent Vanessa Kennsington in the latest installment of the shagadelic Austin Powers franchise.
WEAR IT TO:Â Your mom’s 60’s-themed surprise party dressed in the latest Little Mermaid capsule collection to hit 5th Ave.
FIRST READ:Â Textured spiderweb fabric gave strappy cocktail dresses, camis and cigarette pants a youthful, edgy vibe, while oversized blazers, cropped shorts and a couple of sequined looks elevated the lineup from from casual daywear to nighttime-ready.
BEST LOOK:Â An aqua midi-dress with side splits, worn over matching pants and styled with white heels. Another standout included a sparkly grey-and-white dress with a squiggly wave pattern.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Saffron yellow and aqua heels were paired with contrasting fabric throughout, giving the show a cohesive feel. Dodd added jewelry to the mix via crescent-shaped silver disk necklaces, while a white denim jacket will prevent you from needing to borrow your gent’s suit blazer during the chilly ride home at the end of the night.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE:Â “It’s nice to see a designer using color again for spring – I feel like the shows I’ve seen so far have been so bland.”
COLOR WHEEL:Â Aqua, canary yellow, grey, teal, red, black, white.
