Jil Sander Resort 2019 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Mattress-like quilted fabrics and racing-car checks – design husband-and-wife team Lucie and Luke Meier sought to return to the brand’s signature minimalist feminine vibe, creating a series of coats and bombers over floaty silhouettes in neutral tones.
POP-CULTURE NOD: NASCAR superstar Ricky Bobby in Talladega Nights taking a break from feuding with French Formula One champion Jean Girard via a three-day weekend in Montauk.
WEAR IT TO: A casual morning of shopping for Fair-Trade fresh produce in the sunshine at the Union Square Greenmarket.
FIRST READ: Sophisticated separates with artisan finishes – think demure tunics and lace-up corsets, lightweight coats with flush edges, Audrey Hepburn-inspired tailored shirting and European trousers styled with Grecian sandals.
BEST LOOK: A lemon sleeveless floor-length summer frock, featuring a cutout at the back and paired with black flats and gold hoop earrings.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Logo canvas bucket bags, quilted vests, jackets and skirts, stacked sandals with ankle detail, folded wristlet clutches, and PVC shopping bags featuring the brand’s iconic script.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “Do you think the turtleneck is due for a long-awaited comeback?”
COLOR WHEEL: Sorbet yellow, tan, caramel, black, red, navy, white, powder blue, khaki, cream, dusty pink, grey.
