Jill Stuart S/S 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: A botanical garden and the celebration of 25 years at the helm of her brand, designer Jill Stuart paid tribute to her back catalog of floral, frilly frocks, while the show took an Oriental turn through Asian-inspired prints on sheer, layered party dresses.
POP-CULTURE NOD:Â Vanessa Hudgens stomping about in her Hunter dungarees with a flower crown in her hair while rocking out to Empire of the Sun at Glastonbury.
WEAR IT TO:Â Your next Tinder date over coffee in the library at The Strand bookstore’s 5th Ave. offshoot in the Club Monaco flagship, before perusing the shop’s design section for some inspiration ahead of redecorating your apartment.
FIRST READ: Signature ruffled dresses gave the show an ethereal romantic vibe, while layered looks and metal headbands added a vintage Victorian feel to the mix.
BEST LOOK:Â A sheer, frilly black dress covered in floral print, worn over a bodysuit with collar detailing, given a grungy edge with lace-up shoes.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Stuart collaborated with emerging female designers Lady Grey for her jewelry offering, and Zana Bayne, who made the structured leather belts to complement the feminine looks. Polka-dotted fingerless gloves gave an unofficial nod to Mary Poppins’ off-duty wardrobe.
SPOTTED IN THE FROW: Julia Goldani Telles, Camren Bicondova, Jaime King, Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Carol Alt, Natalia Dyer, Julia Goldani Telles, Devon Windsor, Cara Santana, Cory Kennedy, Chloë Sevigny.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “Have you checked out the photo exhibition with model Tasha Tilberg?”
COLOR WHEEL:Â Dusty pink, mint, red, black, white, ivory, red, indigo.
