Jonathan Cohen NYFW F/W19 – Review
INSPIRED BY: A recent trip to Mexico City, where designer Jonathan Cohen purchased a collection of colorful rugs and carpets, with an eye to deconstructing them to form part of his latest lineup.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Margherita Missoni on a summer jaunt to the Algarve coastal region of Portugal with her family for a spot of ceramics shopping and a two-day Jeep safari tour.
WEAR IT TO: Don a panama hat and walk the ancient Mayan ruins in between dips in the ocean on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula.
FIRST READ: Cohen has come a long way since showing his elegant evening gowns at the Aire Ancient Baths in February of 2016. Fresh off snagging the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund competition, the designer served up a breezy strapless dresses featuring patchwork applique and tribal fringing, hand-knit cardigans with tie detail, and multiple separates with a floral prints in multiple forms.
BEST LOOK: A sunshine yellow sleeveless column dress, featuring a detachable base fastened with fabric ties.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: A scarf-tie patchwork dress added a bohemian, folksy vibe to the mix, as did beaded and silk headpieces, while strappy heels featuring an ankle tie upped the red carpet-ante and added a feminine dose to the mix.
