Josie Natori S/S 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Tropical motifs, floral prints and the desire to create a cheery and colorful collection for the local New Yorker with a fully-booked spring charity event schedule.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Nicole Ritchie flexing her green thumb in the backyard of her L.A. home, tending to her multiple agricultural pursuits, namely a turtle pond, chicken coop and produce garden.
WEAR IT TO: Ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower at midnight to catch the sparkling light show, before heading to the speakeasy Experimental Cocktail Club on Rue Saint-Sauveur for a handcrafted spicy margarita.
FIRST READ: Fitted jumpsuits covered in florals, frilly shirtdresses, and a navy bomber with an oriental print played to the designer’s mission to craft a polished lineup for the ladylike woman with a street-style edge. White blouses and tiered babydoll sundresses made the collection easily transitional from the desk to a sundowner uptown.
BEST LOOK: A halter jumpsuit in a floral and palm-tree fond print, cinched at the waist with a tie and teamed with a matching floaty robe with gold rose accents at the neck and waist.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Oversized floral earrings and 90’s-style sling-back white heels played to the show’s garden-party vibe, while chokers and parachute parkas worn throughout added a dose of retro cool to the mix.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “I haven’t seen a choker since my 90’s goth phase and I’m loving this pretty reboot.”
COLOR WHEEL: Rose, black, lemon, pink, lilac, peach, chartreuse, red, lime, forest green, white, navy, indigo.
