Katty Xiomara S/S 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: The concept of taking off from the Caribbean and conveniently floating down onto Miami’s Art Deco District. Titled, “Parachute Trip,” designer Katty Xiomara delivered a collection for the bohemian dreamer on a perpetual summer vacation.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Sienna Miller with a crown braid on stage rehearsing for her role as lead in the Broadway adaptation of Rapunzel.
WEAR IT TO: Sunset cocktails with Peter Brandt at Interview Magazine’s celebration of Paloma Picasso’s 35 years with Tiffany at the 1 Hotel South Beach.
FIRST READ: Ruffled dresses and floaty cover-ups in sorbet shades walked in line with the show’s tropical-vacation vibe, while tailored shirts with neck ties worn under pinafore smocks added a 50’s prairie-farmer flair to the offering.
BEST LOOK: A duck-egg blue jumpsuit with a tulle overlay and the show’s title, “Parachute Trip,” featured on the bandeau’s hem, worn with strappy T-bar heels.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Boxy camisoles and shift dresses with frill accents. Maxi dresses in circus-tent stripes that resembled actual parachutes as they billowed down the runway.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “The collection feels a bit athletic despite being super feminine – I’m loving the candy hues.”
COLOR WHEEL: Red, orange, apricot, teal, hot pink, black, white, silver, peach.
