The athletic fashion sector is having a moment and Lacoste is cashing in.

The preppy sporting brand married form and functionality in its spring 2015 offering, which was inspired by yachting – the sort of attire one might don for a fundraiser regatta race in St. Tropez.

Whether you plan to help out on deck or help yourself to a glass of champagne and let the sun work on your tan next season, designer Felipe Oliveira Baptista is sure to have you covered through his range of classic polos, mini dresses with regatta stripes, sweatshirts, shorts and jackets, all laced with a dose of sporty chic.

A standout look for men was a cobalt blue suit with matching shades and stark white sneakers, while for women a white and yellow striped halter mini dress was given a dose of sex appeal through a sheer blue overlay with white trimmings.

Baptista favored simple, clean and structured silhouettes, using high-tech materials such as neoprene to enhance the collection’s functionality on the open seas.

Also fit for raising the mast were windbreakers which were built into the waist of shorts and jackets which allowed the models to carry a weather protector down the runway without the need to fasten it to their waists.

Upping the athletic factor were a series of football-inspired sweatshirts and jerseys with numbers and logos, while a procession of girly halter neck dresses closed the show with a ladylike farewell.

Mashing fitted and oversized silhouettes increased the wearability of the collection, with the color blocking palette allowing Lacoste devotees to mix-and-match pieces next season.

While it’s unlikely any member of the fash pack will pull an Abby Sunderland and attempt to sail around the world solo anytime soon, Lacoste’s latest offering will have you decked out for the next America’s Cup bash.
