Lela Rose NYFW S/S20 – Review

INSPIRED BY: Designer Lela Rose’s love of treating her guests to an immersive experience in lieu of the standard runway show. This season, Rose created an ode to New York by setting up tables in Hudson River Park, where models sauntered down a path of yellow rose petals as guests watched on.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Clare Danes attending the Hollywood premiere of Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of Little Women.
WEAR IT TO: Raise your pinkie for an extravagant morning tea soiree at the Baccarat Hotel in Midtown.
FIRST READ: Rose stayed true to her penchant for ladylike eveningwear with a downtown New Yorker-aesthetic, which stands out among the sea of slinky bodycon options on the market. Fans were sure to be delighted by the series of knife pleat midi-skirts and casual suiting featuring a Manhattan skyline print, while a handful of daring looks pairing crop tops with frilly skirts might appeal to those on the hunt for a riskier party getup.
BEST LOOK: A soft pink, floor-length gown in sheer tulle, featuring an oversized flower on one shoulder, which seemed perfect for a spring bridal shower. Also key was a demure midi dress in white, featuring the same tulle detail and flower and worn under a white blazer.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: The three-piece band that played throughout the show, the rose petals that amplified the show’s romantic message, Mary Jane flats in red with white polka dots, an ethereal rose print in yellow, red and blue featured on a string of dresses.
