Leo & Lin Resort 2019 – Review
INSPIRED BY: The European runway and taking an international approach to create a feminine collection with a romantic aesthetic, fit for the perennial prom attendee.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Anne Hathaway as Princess Mia, pausing her grandmother, The Queen, to ask if it was ‘customary in Genovia to imprison your dinner guests using Hermés scarves.’ Think Audrey Hepburn posing as a duchess at Ascot-meets-Queen Elsa in Frozen.
WEAR IT TO: Hop in your pumpkin-themed carriage and be whisked away to the My Fairytale Party’s Princess Ball at The Legacy Castle in New Jersey, followed by an evening in the VIP box at the Barclay’s Center for a private viewing of Disney on Ice.
FIRST READ: Equal parts Starlight Express, Xanadu and Grease, Leo & Lin’s latest collection played out like a walking advertisement for the upcoming International Debutante Ball in NYC, featuring frilly party frocks in ice-cream colored sorbet hues, and off-the-shoulder cocktail gowns with a distinct 50’s vibe.
BEST LOOK: A ballerina-inspired bodice in lemon, featuring shooting-star crystal embellishments and paired with a matching layered tutu-esque full skirt, neck scarf and strappy silver heels.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Pastel headscarves featuring the brand’s logo – also worn as belts with bows – loose chignon hair styles to match the show’s magical, ethereal vibe, celestial jewels, stars and phrases printed on bodices and the chiffon on skirts and dresses.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “I’m loving the 50’s-style air-hostess dresses, they remind me of Danny apologizing to Sandy in the diner scene in Grease. Very Pink Ladies.”
COLOR WHEEL: Lavender, lemon, royal blue, silver, white, powder pink, red, grey, champagne.
