Libertine S/S 2018 – Review

INSPIRED BY: Pop-culture references and eclectic embellishments galore, designer Johnson Hartig served up a buckload of fashion fun – think a cheeky banana print on a pair of men’s Speedos, pirate hats, and a matching trench and pant combo with a cartoon bulldog pattern emblazoned across it.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Jeremy Scott’s getup when playing a cameo role in the next Pirates of the Caribbean installment.
WEAR IT TO: Witness the carnival pageantry at Festival of the Dead when it tours Edinburgh (or your next space-themed pajama party).
FIRST READ: Painted stockings and nail jewelry amped-up the show’s theatrical flair, while shimmery sweats, ostrich feathers on sparkly black cocktail dresses, and sheer separates with text scrawled across them echoed the collection’s party vibe.
BEST LOOK: A glitter suit worn open with nothing underneath, a look which caught the eye of many an avid Instgrammer as the model sashayed by.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: CND created personalized nail art for each look, using Swarovski crystals, bird skulls, safety pins, tassels, working lava lamps and pill paraphernalia. Psychedelic flats with holographic tie detailing were worn throughout.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “I’m totally getting my boyfriend the sequin basketball bomber jacket for Christmas.” [Friend] “You don’t think he’d prefer the banana print swimmers?”
