Linder S/S 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: A nod to floral prints, Western rifles, and an overarching grungy aesthetic, designers Sam Linder and Kirk Millar delivered a series of gothic looks with a feminine edge. And plenty of flesh to boot.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Neve Campbell and her quartet in horror flick The Craft, meets the skin-baring raciness of her and Denise Richards’ characters poolside in Wild Things.
WEAR IT TO: Friday’s “Back to the 90’s” night at goth and punk temple, The Pyramid Club, in the East Village, to dance by the Stephen King-inspired fog machine and rub shoulders with your fellow vampires deep into the early hours.
FIRST READ: Handkerchief camisoles with eye motifs, suede miniskirts, pattered denim and one-shouldered body-con looks were offset by daring getups not for the faint-of-heart – think barely-there triangle bralettes, bandeau tops worn with waist-high thongs. Morticia Adams’ wardrobe given an X-rated upgrade.
BEST LOOK: A long-sleeve floor-length white silk dress with an oversized AK-47 printed diagonally on the front.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Silver chains worn as body jewelry around the neck and torso, while deep violet lipstick enhanced the show’s underground gothic-scene vibe.
SPOTTED IN THE FROW: Dani Stahl, Tara Gonzales, Phoebe Stephens.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “I love the return of the dark lip – it makes me excited for winter. It’s very Wednesday Adams.”
COLOR WHEEL: White, black, silver, grey, olive, rust.
