MacGraw Resort 2019 – Review
INSPIRED BY: The late-Victorian castellated Gothic Revival mansion – said to be worth upwards of $60 million – that formed the backdrop of MacGraw’s morning show. Models emerged from the buildings double doors as if permanent residents of the luxurious grounds.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf heading up the maiden committee meeting to discuss thematic options for the school’s upcoming Cotillion.
WEAR IT TO: A Sunday stroll for flowers at London’s Borough Market, before heading to a pub in Richmond to watch a rerun of the royal wedding.
FIRST READ: Beth and Tessa MacGraw stayed true to the brand’s signature take on femininity and youthful opulence in their fifth showing at MBFWA at the historic trophy landmark, featuring a spate of tiered ruffled frocks, sheer lace midi-dresses and playful separates, such as floral duster coats worn over matching shorts and printed shirts, or mini babydoll dresses, which were transformed into looks fit for daytime via statement red flats.
BEST LOOK: A seafoam green romper, featuring a V-neck neckline, tiered ruffles and sleeve detail, cinched at the waist with a crimson velvet belt and worn with champagne flats.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: While the only thing missing from the rotation of Dorothy-worthy bright red satin shoes was the glitter, the design duo made-up for the dazzle through a lineup of pretty party dresses doused in floral prints, frilly layers and flirty sheer paneling.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “What’s the latest on the Moran family feud anyway? I feel like they’ve been off my news radar for a while.”
COLOR WHEEL: White, magenta, cream, black, red, seafoam green, black, peach, soft pink.
