TOP INSTA LOOK: Peter Pan collars, all-over floral prints and tiered ruffles combined to create enough sweetness to send a diabetic to the emergency room, creating a delicious display of flouncy, girly goodness. Pastel pink lace-up boots were perfectly complementary to the suite of dainty frocks, while barely-there makeup and loose curls kept in check with the show’s relaxed vibe.
BEHIND THE SCENES: Guests’ surprise on viewing the enormous dollhouse set as organizers packet the smaller venue, followed by collective delight as models bounded onto the catwalk with seldom seen enormous grins.
OFF PROBATION: A mini-dress with a frilly flared skirt and white bib-like detailing in cute ladybug print, playing to spring’s renewed relationship with nature and garden fun. Also key was an emerald green velvet riding suit worn over an apricot dress shirt and teamed with knee-high maroon lace-up riding boots.
GOOD BEHAVIOR BOND: A white frilled from with black necktie that fell in layers from the collar down, perfect for the nonconforming hipster Brooklyn bride-to-be, both on and after her wedding day.
INSPIRED BY: Like the sugary treats comprising a gingerbread house, Macgraw’s latest collection paid homage to the sweetness and lightness of the season, complete with the saccharine smiles of models that bounded from the set’s Barbie pink colored runway door. (Officially inspired by French royalty, the show marched more to Kate Middelton’s cheerful tune).
POP CULTURE-NOD: If Peter Alexander joined forces with the design team from Zimmerman and Alanah Hill, chowed down a box of candy-colored macaroons and went to town with a giant box of brightly colored Crayolas to whip up their dream collaborative collection. Sure to be New York designer Betsey Johnson’s favorite show of the Australia Fashion Week season.
WEAR IT TO: The reopening of Coney Island where you plan to consume your bodyweight in cotton candy to ring in the warmer months with your Ralph Lauren-clad beau.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “Did you hear about the Egypt plane? Are you worried about flying home to Perth?” “No rockets over the Nullabor, only empty stubbies.” – a conversation between two hipsters about the Egypt Air missing plane.

THE DOCKET: Frilled frocks, flared sleeves, demure high necklines and ladylike button downs were front and center in Sydney sisters Beth and Tessa MacGraw’s latest collection, which featured a plethora of densely printed flowing and baby doll dresses with bib-like detailing and floor-length dresses in soft pastel colors composed entirely of layered frill from the neck down.
