INSPIRED BY: The debaucherous evening of a former Woodstock devotee after popping a vintage strain of ecstasy and inviting 62 of their closest party pals to a Mad Hatter’s Party at a school assembly in Brooklyn.
POP-CULTURE NOD: 60’s British bombshell Twiggy on the set of a throwback photo shoot paying homage to festival vibes on both sides of the pond: think Western looks in soft pastels, paisley frocks in daring silhouettes, polished menswear suiting, and bohemian floaty gowns.
WEAR IT TO: Your next assignment as private investigator contracted to uncover a nefarious drug kingpin at next year’s Coachella.
FIRST READ: Keeping in line with his decision to strip back the theatrics of his former blockbuster shows, Jacobs revealed his fun side by staging the show in reverse: first with the final walkthrough which featured a tsunami of models approaching the guests (who were seated on mismatched white chairs), followed by individual looks in an explosion of textures and colors. Grungy getups with ladylike details were key in the eclectic mix, while the red carpet numbers fit for Lady Gaga’s next press junket.
BEST LOOK: A fuchsia high-low frock with frilly sleeves and an extended train, given a demure schoolgirl vibe via a lace bib and necktie, and styled with lattice tights and open-toe mules.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Statement cowboy hats designed by milliner Stephen Jones added a fun flair to the lineup, while the abundance of corduroy and swirly 70’s prints in jewel tones added a sense of nostalgia to the eccentric collection.
