Michael Costello S/S 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: The magical world of a mystical secret garden, with a focus on ethereal forms and an ode to femininity.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Cupcake Wars filmed on location at the Colombia Road Flower Market in Bethnal Green. Think Kate Bosworth tying the knot with film director Michael Polish and riding off into the sunset on a thoroughbred mare at The Ranch at Rock Creek luxury resort in Montana.
WEAR IT TO: Make like Chrissy Teigen and John Legend and elope to the exclusive Villa Pizzo in Lake Como, before returning to New York and renewing your vows at the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden.
FIRST READ: Bridal rompers, floor-grazing tiered gowns, flirty mini dresses and full-ball skirt looks with laced bodices filled the presentation space in a technicolor explosion of pretty pastels and whites, with intricate lace and beaded detailing featured throughout, in addition to a suite of cheeky frocks for the less-than-bashful bride with sheer overlays.
BEST LOOK: A peach strapless layered silk gown featuring front folds and jewel crystal accents.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: A wall of roses marked the centerpiece of the presentation, staged behind the collection’s three most dramatic princess looks, while wedding bells chimed over the sound system as guests sipped champagne while models ruffled their dresses to create staged Boomerang shots.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “There’s so much pink in here it’s giving me allergies.”
COLOR WHEEL: Blush, ivory, white, powder blue, silver, taupe, nude, pink.
