Michael Kors NYFW F/W19 – Review

INSPIRED BY: The coexisting elements of glam and grit in New York during the ‘70s. Designer Michael Kors paid homage to his old stomping ground, Studio 54 in a celebration toasting the art of dressing up.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Cher and Liza Minnelli tearing up the D-floor in matching shimmering purple jumpsuits while on a hedonistic evening out at a celebrity-infused nightclub.
WEAR IT TO: Dance till dawn under the bright lights of Le Bain atop of The Standard Hotel, but bypass the swim-trunk and bikini vending machine to avoid getting your perm wet.
FIRST READ: Kors delivered an explosion of his trademark flashy looks via sequin dresses featuring the Studio 54 logo and feather sleeves, vampy suiting with crystal embellishments, and metallic lame dresses and tops. Daywear options came in the form of classic bomber jackets, cozy hoodies, and faux-fur coats in earthy hues.
BEST LOOK: A leather jacket with a fuzzy fur collar, teamed with matching cargo pants with zipper detail, styled with a logo t-shirt, aviators and strappy heels.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Crooner Barry Manilow belting out “Copacabana” on a dazzling gold stage as rock icon Patti Hansen sauntered down the runway. Adding to the retro vibe were oversized top-handle bags and cross-body totes, fishnets worn throughout, while the addition of legwarmers on a number of looks added a ballerina-off-duty vibe to the mix.
