Michael Kors F/W 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: A love letter to the concept of individual style, designer Michael Kors narrated the show with a soundtrack featuring top pop hits from the past decade to match the mashup of styles that merged seamlessly throughout the show. Think the former 90’s Nirvana grunge girl with a gallery job in Chelsea .Â
POP-CULTURE NOD: Alexa Chung catching a gig at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Festival before hitting up the National Portrait Gallery and a spot of vintage shopping.Â
WEAR IT TO:Â Go 90’s with NYC-based musicians The Fresh Kids of Bel-Air at Le Poisson Rouge on Bleeker Street.Â
FIRST READ: College-inspired printed t-shirts, shaggy fur coats, and camouflage leather jackets played to the show’s grungy, relaxed vibe. For those seeking to fly under-the-radar on their next jaunt offshore, there were plaid coats, sequinned jumpsuits and blazers, and strapless cocktail gowns.
BEST LOOK: Binx Walton opening the show in a floral long-sleeve midi dress, styled under a clashing tartan cape, scarf, bag and leopard-print knee-high boots. Â
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Kors continued the season’s trend of featuring mismatched prints on the runway, featuring floral prints alongside shaggy fur and pearls, or plaid with animal print and stacked brogues. Kors collaborated with the illustrator David Downton on a dress painted with women’s portraits as part of his ode to the modern power woman.Â
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE:Â “This collection would be just as at home on Courtney Love as it would Kate Middleton.”
COLOR WHEEL:Â Khaki, blue, tan, grey, black, white, lilac, navy, red, petrol.
