INSPIRED BY: Designer Mimi Prober’s zest for refashioning vintage pieces via hand-dyeing techniques and antique textiles. Think the costume closet of The Handsmaid’s Tale given a downtown makeover.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Girls alum Zosia Mamet getting hitched to Evan Jonigkeit on a misty fall afternoon during a rustic wedding at Cedar Lakes Estate upstate. Courtney Love belting out Celebrity Skin at a rock bar in the East Village during her Hole era.
WEAR IT TO: Punchdrunk’s film noir Sleep No More at the McKittrick Hotel after having your tarot read by a traveling gypsy on the rooftop garden at Gallow Green upstairs.
FIRST READ: Floaty chiffon dresses with layered lace and embroidered detail – featuring seed pearls, sterling, beetlewing and jet beads – mixed with billowy webbed knits and patchwork accents.
BEST LOOK: An off-the-shoulder floor-length gown featuring a lace corset, ivory train and deconstructed skirt detailing.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Soho-based design studio Élan Flowers created the floral arrangements and botanical dyes for the materials used in the designer’s latest collection. A black floor-length veil on one of the final looks.
