MONSE – NYFW F/W19

DESIGNER: Monse
COLLECTION: F/W19

Monse NYFW F/W19 – Review

INSPIRED BY: Design duo Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim’s penchant for deconstructing everyday staples. Except this season, they added an athletic slant to the mix.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel kicking back with a handcrafted après ski cocktail at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler’s Mallard Lounge after an arduous day on the powder of Blackcomb Mountain.
WEAR IT TO: Lounge fireside with a Moscow Mule on a writing weekend upstate at the Brentwood by the historic Saratoga Race Course.
FIRST READ: This season, there were no signs of the brand’s signature hand-dripped sequins on button-downs and vampy dresses. Instead, Garcia and Kim favored tartan shirt dresses with asymmetrical hemlines and built-in scarves, chunky knits with shoulder cutouts, and sporty parkers with drawstring detail. Adding to the athletic offering were fuzzy coats with a Nordic print, deconstructed hoodies and lightweight anoraks capable of being worn a variety of ways.
BEST LOOK: A vintage-looking leather jacket with the phrase “MF19” printed on the front, paired with ‘70s-style navy tracks with white side piping and tan heels.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Drawstring leather booties and furry slides, worn throughout, showcased the collection’s ability to be dressed up for a night on the town or kept casual for a cozy evening in.
COLOR WHEEL: Red, navy, black, mustard, white, brown, khaki, neon green, rust.
