Moschino Resort 2019 – Review

INSPIRED BY: The show’s circus-themed set under a life-size big top tent, creative director Jeremy Scott entertained guests pre-show with performance artists that included jugglers, stilt-walkers, trapeze artists, clowns and a balloon aficionado, with free cotton candy and complementary rides on a Ferris wheel.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Walt Disney’s cult classic, Dumbo, under the reign of Hugh Jackman as P.T. Barnum in The World’s Greatest Showman. Think attending a carnival in Ibiza on an acid trip.
WEAR IT TO: Kylie Minogue’s sold-out greatest hits show at the Bowery Ballroom. That, or your audition to replace an injured acrobat in the hand-to-hand two-man exhibition of strength and stamina on a rotating dome in Cirque du Soleil’s Las Vegas residency show, Mystère.
FIRST READ: Sequined zebra-striped tanks and matching bike pants, 70’s-style peace-sign printed jumpsuits, white leather separates covered in multi-colored circle motifs and Pride Weekend-ready rainbow capes played to the show’s uplifting, party vibe, while full skirts with hoop detailing and oversized jacket and high-waisted pants combo covered in polka dots upped the collection’s theatrical status.
BEST LOOK: A cobalt swimsuit covered with white doves, teamed with pink tights, silver stacked heels, powder blue wig and an ostrich feather hat.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Oversized star earrings teamed with Studio 54-esque lurex looks and sequined berets, multi-colored leather lace-up boots, extra-large bowties and sunglasses in candy-color shades, flower-covered bowlers and miniature cone-shaped clown hats, mallets, mini umbrellas and parasols, and grandma-inspired purses featuring daisy appliques, plastic beads, and ringleader top hats.
