INSPIRED BY: Halston’s personification of American fashion in the 1970’s, designer Naeem Khan double-down on his message by sending models Pat Cleveland, Alva Chinn, and Karen Bjornson down the runway to close the show, all iconic muses of the heritage brand.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Andy Warhol partying with Liza Minnelli and Bianca Jagger at Halston House at 101 East 63rd Street on the Upper East Side, the former carriage house turned Studio 54-style destination and one of the city’s only mid-century modern townhouses.
WEAR IT TO: Nurse Pineapple Trainwreck cocktails with your six-foot model friends on the rooftop at Catch LA on a buzzy Friday night.
FIRST READ: Khan delivered an glitzy suite of his signature sheer cocktail gowns with sequin and embroidered embellishments, evening capes with feather accents, and wearable separates in the form of silk kimonos in a playful floral pattern, Western jackets with trailing tassels and lace blouses with pussycat bow ties.
BEST LOOK: A lingerie-style lace corset, cinched with a fringed silver belt and styled with navy velvet pants and a pink smoking robe in an oriental print.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Disco ball drop earrings, tassel skirts, and a bubblegum pink fuzzy mini dress with sequined straps played to the show’s throwback party vibe, while an abundance of floral prints likely appealed to the brand’s devotees.
