Nanushka NYFW F/W19 – Review

INSPIRED BY: The laid-back vibe, bold colors and shaggy textures of home décor in the ‘70s. Titled, “Mystery Child,” designer Sandra Sandor cited the shift towards unisex fashion as key behind her latest collection, reflecting a growing trend among designers each season.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Don Draper impulsively proposing to his former secretary Megan Calvet while on a trip to Venice in L.A.
WEAR IT TO: Peruse the latest emerging designers within the spate of indie boutiques on Rivington Street in the Lower East Side, before meeting friends for bottomless mimosas at Mezetto on East Houston.
FIRST READ: Shaggy coats, cozy jackets and wide-leg jumpsuits covered in a paisley swirl print walked in line with the show’s distinct boho-hippie vibe, while floor-grazing button-up cardigans and belted jackets with balloon sleeves added a lived-in, homely feel to the mix.
BEST LOOK: A sheer lavender dress with cargo pockets and an asymmetrical handkerchief hemline, styled with knee-high suede lilac boots.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Earrings and heels made from reclaimed wood as part of a collaboration with California-based jewelry designer Sophie Monet added to the show’s focus on sustainability.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “I’m loving the mint fuzzy slides and matching clutches.”
COLOR WHEEL: Cream, green, maroon, brown, purple, lavender, camel, apricot, taupe, khaki, white, black.
