TOP INSTA LOOK: Dagger hair pieces, crushed velvet and more leather than a Hells Angels drive by. A 2016 twist on the reverse fanny pack. Satanic red and purple silk dresses floated down the runway making a practical turn with oversized comfy sweaters and coats that had us becoming one with nature.
OFF PROBATION: Signature layering pieces were fluid, lightweight, and artfully draped, given a luxurious update via statement alpaca parkas, leather jackets and trenches with shearling detailing.
GOOD BEHAVIOUR BOND: A sleeveless, deep V plunging dress in burgundy crushed velvet, worn with slouchy flats and leather arm guard.
INSPIRED: By projected experimental town Arcosanti in the desert of Arizona, built to embody Paolo Soleri’s concept of archology – the fusion of architecture with ecology. The urban power trooper taking a sabbatical to hike the Inca Trail. (Which fits nicely with the label’s participation in the CFDA + Lexus Fashion* Initiative program, focusing on sustainability and eco-conscious design).
POP CULTURE-NOD: The techno nomadic warrior look of Morpheus in The Matrix, Ice T on patrol on S.V.U., Angels & Demons.
WEAR IT TO: Indoor Extreme Sports Paintball.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “I’m surprised by the turnout for day one, 9AM”.
SPOTTED: Actresses Arden Cho and Clare Foley.
COLOR WHEEL: Statement trench coats and jackets evolved from black to crisp whites to earthy and jewel tones over the course of the show, skillfully layered over pants and skirts, paying homage to the designer’s signature penchant for layering. Adding a wild card to the neutral mix was a subtle splash of nature and Aztec-inspired prints.
THE DOCKET: Easy-to-wear pieces have drawn in the brand’s fiercely loyal following; surely fans new and old can appreciate the lineup’s sustainable feel, which is sure to transition seamlessly from the concrete jungle to sweeping sands of the Arizona high desert.
