INSPIRED BY: The Bahraini Pearl and the Persian Gulf region, designers Shaikha Noor Rashid Al Khalifa and Shaikha Haya Mohamed Al Khalifa cited the shells’ fragility as key behind the voluminous silhouettes and sheer panels in their latest collection.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Gwyneth Paltrow as Jude Law’s expatriate girlfriend on the sun-drenched waters of the Italian coastline in The Talented Mr. Ripley.
WEAR IT TO: A beach wedding at Rock Bar in Bali, before hitting the town over cocktails at Ku De Ta in Seminyak.
FIRST READ: References to the show’s theme were found in pearl beading on sheer dresses and more subtly via polka dot prints on feminine floaty gowns, while the designers served up a dose of their signature masculine suiting via relaxed-fit blazers, given an off-duty vibe by teaming them with white tees and casual shorts.
BEST LOOK: An ethereal light pink cocktail frock with a crinkled effect and ruffled neckline, styled with a woven straw wristlet bag and orange strappy sandals.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Like many shows this season, orange was key to the designer’s latest collection, which seemed like the perfect wardrobe for a mid-summer jaunt to St. Tropez. The combination of Grecian sandals, pearl jewelry, and straw totes added a casual vibe to looks that could work for a day by the pool or an evening meeting.
