INSPIRED BY: The feted late fashion designer’s hometown of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Creative team Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia’s furthered their exploration of global travel in their latest collection. Think island vibes with a tailored, polished edge.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Penelope Cruz tying the knot with beau Javier Bardem at a private estate in The Bahamas.
WEAR IT TO: An end-of-summer A-list wedding at Sole East in Montauk while sipping on preppy cocktails by the pool.
FIRST READ: Breezy casual separates in bold, primary colors and rich jewel tones gave way to evening looks that played to the brand’s signature aesthetic. Akin to Kim and Garcia’s fall/winter 2019 offering, there was plenty of floral embroidery and geometric prints, strapless jacquard party frocks, and tailored suiting with lace accents. Fans of the pair’s infamous red-carpet numbers were not disappointed: think floaty Grecian gowns, strapless high-low frocks, and even a spate of wedding-appropriate dresses featuring crystal embellishments and tiered tulle skirts.
BEST LOOK: A strapless midi dress in a tribal print with raffia detail, paired with a matching oversized sunhat and strappy sandals, which appeared fit for a day of yachting on the French Riviera.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Garden party-inspired prints and rich silks added a luxe feel to relaxed kaftans and other daywear looks, while a series of whimsical princess dresses played to the collection’s ladylike vibe.
