Peter Do NYFW S/S22 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Designer Do’s Vietnamese heritage growing up in with immigrant parents in Philadelphia. The designer drew from an array of reference points for his latest collection, which played out like a tightly edited mix of a classic and fashion-forward looks alike.
POP-CULTURE NOD: French Vogue editor Emmanuelle Alt reviewing the final pages for the September issue at a café
WEAR IT TO: Cocktail hour at Sydney’s Opera Bar before catching opening night of the Australian Ballet’s Romeo & Juliet.
FIRST READ: Do’s take on menswear suiting showed elements of The Row’s knack for making oversized blazers and slouchy shirts and trousers look sleek and edgy, while floral applique on white separates added a feminine element to the mix.
BEST LOOK: A muted sage-green blazer with detachable chiffon detail in cream, teamed with matching high-waisted trousers and brown Mary Jane-style shoes.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Stacked riding boots with asymmetrical edging, oversized cross-body bags in crocodile, giant painted flowers on black blazers and a deconstructed shirt with tie detail.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “Can we go to Dumbo House for drinks after the show?”
COLOR WHEEL: Navy, brown, cream, white, red, camel, slate, petrol.
