INSPIRED BY: Designers Nathalie du Pasquier and Barbara Radice of the Milan-based Memphis Group, the postmodern firm responsible for fashioning furniture using bold colors and asymmetrical shapes during the 1980’s.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Margherita Missoni on the eve of her gypsy-inspired wedding, where she’s set to marry racing driver Eugenio Amos at an estate in Brunello, deep in the heart of the Italian countryside. Think the set of Saved by the Bell, minus the bad hair.
WEAR IT TO: Make a Millennial Pink ceramic bowl with a Tinder date at Baked in Brooklyn pottery store while listening to Bob Dylan’s Stuck Inside of Mobile With the Memphis Blues on repeat.
FIRST READ: A rainbow striped bodysuit, dresses with scalloped wiggly hemlines, and ribbed knitted skirts rounded out the colorful collection, which continued designers Wei Lin and Mijia Zhang’s foray into sheer wool. The collection was photographed in the label’s China factory to spotlight the technology behind the lineup’s construction.
BEST LOOK: A tomato cap-sleeved mini dress, featuring a wiggly hemline and white piping detail, styled with lilac gloves, brown boots and metallic stockings.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: The brand’s knit over-the-knee socks, Star Trek-inspired sunglasses and candy-colored puffer jackets paid homage to the Memphis movement’s penchant for bright primary colors, and weird, surprising shapes.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “This lineup reminds me of my West Elm chair with the Dusen Dusen squiggly cushion on top of designer Eric Trine’s mint-green base.”
COLOR WHEEL: Navy, powder blue, red, yellow, white, black, aqua, green, cream.
