Rag & Bone S/S 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: The desire to create a multi-seasonal collection via a photo project in collaboration with Rag & Bone devotees. Designer Marcus Wainwright shunned the traditional NYFW show in favor of having a cast of influencers snap self-portraits while wearing the brand’s latest collection. In lieu of funds saved by eschewing the runway-show format, Wainwright made charitable contributions to organizations of each cast model’s selection.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Rock-chic model Georgia Fowler getting in a quick psychology study session while grabbing a burger at Ruby’s on the “Little Australia” district of Mulberry Street, before heading to Pearl’s Social & Billy Club in Bushwick.
WEAR IT TO: The big pitch in front of your publishing magnate boss campaigning the closure of your flailing newspaper in order to rebrand as a digital tech start-up.
FIRST READ: Oversized plaid coats, one-shouldered sweaters and camo jackets stayed true to the brand’s slouchy, street-style aesthetic, while feminine looks, such as a sunshine yellow floral dress worn under a fuchsia bomber with logo detail, added a dose of spunk to the offering.
BEST LOOK: A hot-pink blazer with black collar detail, worn with matching pants with side piping.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Jeans and trousers with “Rag & Bone” scribbled in graffiti-style scrawl down the side. Silver bucket bags and white and baby pink zip-up booties.
SPOTTED IN THE FROW: Carolyn Murphy, Tali Lennox, Melanie Ward, Bobby Cannavale, James Goldcrown, Walton Ford, Maye Musk.
COLOR WHEEL: Red, powder blue, hot pink, grey, navy, black, neon green, white, mustard, brown, forest green, khaki.
