Rodarte NYFW S/S19 – Review

INSPIRED BY: Sister design duo Kate and Laura Mulleavy’s return to New York Fashion Week after a two-year break prompted them to deliver a romantically whimsical collection with a macabre twist. Think aristocratic dressing from an old trunk you discovered in the attic of a haunted mansion.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Keira Knightly as Cecilia entwined in a secret dalliance with the housekeeper’s son, Robbie Turner, in the periodic war drama, Atonement.
WEAR IT TO: The Tim Burton-themed Halloween extravaganza at Soho House in Meatpacking.
FIRST READ: Amid the haunting surrounds of the New York Marble Cemetery as guests cowered under clear umbrellas amid the relentless rain, the Mulleavy sisters served up a fairytale lineup of ruffled silk dresses, powder-puff tulle gowns, metallic cocktail frocks and white wedding looks, complete with veils and cascading trains.
BEST LOOK: A black sheer dress with purple, blue and green sequin detail and tulle accents, featuring a ruffled hood and styled with metallic pink booties and a rose headband.
