Rosie Assoulin F/W 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Ancient marbling techniques from Turkey, Italy and Japan. Designer Rosie Assoulin delivered her signature rainbow ladylike looks with a subtle nod to Little Red Riding Hood and fairy tale princess whim. Â
POP-CULTURE NOD: Solange Knowles Accepts Harvard Foundation’s Artist of the Year at the Sanders Theatre.
WEAR IT TO: The VIP screening of The Princess Diaries at the outdoor Moonlight Cinema at Bondi Beach.
FIRST READ: Scarf dresses, marbled wrap ball skirts, equestrian-style capes and flared jeans kept in check with the designer’s signature eclectic aesthetic, while silk duster coats and reversible puffer jackets added to the collection’s versatility beyond the red carpet. Think the sort of getup you would don to a wedding rehearsal dinner.
BEST LOOK:Â A pastel pink silk shirt, teamed with a lemon marbled wrap skirt and a chunky bubblegum-colored necklace.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Marble wide-leg jeans and tiered tie-dye skirts gave the collection a 70’s vibe, while bold statement separates in voluminous silhouettes marched in line with the show’s ode to femininity.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE:Â “My bridesmaids are wearing lemon asymmetrical dresses at my wedding in the Hamptons this spring.”
COLOR WHEEL:Â Lemon, navy, forest green, red, lilac, aubergine, powder pink, magenta, apricot.
