The Row F/W 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Japanese American artist and landscape architect Isamu Noguchi, whose work was shipped in from the Noguchi Museum in Long Island City for the presentation. The designers cited the desire to create a versatile day-to-night uniform for the female entrepreneur as a key driving force behind the collection.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Leelee Sobieski running from the office to take part in a Q&A following her latest film’s debut at the Tribeca Film Festival.
WEAR IT TO: A chilly January breakfast meeting at Soho House, 76 Dean Street in London.
FIRST READ: Oversized draped coats, drop-waist dresses with ruched detailing, and a string of turtle-neck sweaters and wide-leg pants played to the lineup’s sense of elegant simplicity, while high-waisted velvet skirts and matching smoking slippers added to the collection’s loungewear vibe.
BEST LOOK:Â AÂ black silk coat with bell sleeves and a voluminous train.Â
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Pinafore dresses that paid homage to the 1870’s Anne of Green Gables boarding school series, while leather gloves and small shoulder bags showcased the ability to transition looks from day to night.Â
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE:Â “I’m glad they decided to show at their headquarters and not in Long Island City!”
COLOR WHEEL:Â Black, cream, moss, grey, slate, petrol, brown.Â
