Sachin & Babi NYFW S/S20 – Review

INSPIRED BY: Design duo Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia’s decision to expand the label’s daywear offering, which adds to their suite of red-carpet-ready gowns and cocktail party frocks with timeless appeal.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Model and Instagram influencer Rocky Barnes relaxing over a sunset cocktail aboard a luxury yacht in Capri.
WEAR IT TO: Look the part at an A-list New Year’s Eve party on the beaches of Tulum.
FIRST READ: Staged in a manicured garden, the design team served up a wardrobe that could take your from a day at the pool, to an afternoon of shopping, to a black-tie event to close out the day. A strapless, drapey blouse teamed with a matching cream sash and relaxed-fit pants had a very waspy aesthetic, while a series of bodycon wrap dresses with ruffles and billowy sleeves played to the signature feminine silhouettes for which the brand is known. As always, the collection’s eveningwear was on point: two standouts being a strapless tomato red mini dress with oversized column sleeves, and a lilac jumpsuit with wide-leg pants and silk arm ties.
BEST LOOK: A tiered halter midi dress in camel featuring orange, rust, and orange piping at the hemline, teamed with nude strappy sandals and beaded circle earrings.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Stacked ruffles on a one-shoulder swimsuit was teamed with a straw sunhat in a look fit to be worn by a celebrity in the South of France. Also key were woven top-handle bags with bows in matching fabrics, and handmade beaded earrings, worn throughout.
