INSPIRED BY: The East-West dichotomy and designers’ Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia’s recent readings on the Ottoman Empire after a jaunt to the Grand Bazaar in Turkey.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Olivia Palermo at VNYL in the East Village enjoying a quiet cocktail in the sophisticated oasis amid the neighborhood’s messy college scene. Think the ever-polished Cat Deeley looking sharp on the red carpet of the latest season of So You Think You Can Dance.
WEAR IT TO: Sunset sessions by the pool on the rooftop of Soho House in Istanbul, sipping a craft cocktail while listening to the beats of female jazz vocalist Sibel Kose.
FIRST READ: Multiculturalism was key in a collection that featured a series of silk cocktail dresses and full ball skirts, sequined statement pieces, and floaty chiffon dresses with trails, while the designers’ experiment with proportion and a Mediterranean-influenced palette added a dose of luxury to the lineup.
