Sally LaPointe F/W 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Neil Armstrong’s 1969 moon landing and the sense of optimism sparked by the art of exploration. The mantra of being direct and moving forward translated through to a simplistic collection with a focus on clean lines and an indirect nod to the 90’s power woman.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Geri Halliwell presenting a BRIT Award in London ahead of the impending Spice Girls reunion.
WEAR IT TO: Dodge the confetti cannons and smog guns as you sip mimosas and dance on the tables to Pitbull’s Hey Baby at Lavo’s infamous brunch.
FIRST READ: Sequin and 70’s-style lurex pants, ribbed knits and coats with faux-fur accents transitioned to a series of evening-ready looks – from a gold jumpsuit and matching jacket to a pearl top and trouser set – LaPointe’s latest collection would dress J.Lo both on and off the awards circuit come fall.
BEST LOOK: An asymmetrical turtle-neck grey ribber jumper, worn with silver lurex pants, a faux-fur scarf and open-toe black booties.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: The designer served up a series of monochrome looks in rich jewel tones, while furry accents and boxy cross-body bags are sure to appeal to the label’s younger fan base.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “This collection screams Studio 54 – I’d make plans for tonight if it wasn’t 11AM and I didn’t have a hangover.”
COLOR WHEEL: Grey, gold, silver, black, red, ivory, brown.
